DOCSIS Proactive Network Maintenance

Using Correlation Groups and vTDR in DOCSIS PNM

DOCSIS PNM tools are able to calculate a value for vTDR (virtual time domain reflectometer), which can tell you the distance of a fault on the cable.  vTDR is used in conjunction with groups of correlated modems is a PNM application to determine the approximate location of upstream impairments in a cable plant that are impacting multiple subscribers.

You will learn:

  • How correlation groups are identified using DOCSIS pre-equalization data
  • How vTDR is used in conjunction with correlation groups in DOCSIS PNM
  • How to identify the likely location of an upstream impairment in a correlation group
