Port Maps Spotlight Systemic Issues
One of the biggest challenges in managing a cable modem network is knowing which customers are experiencing which issues and then determining if the issues are specific to a single customer, or if the issue is systemic and affects many customers.
The intelligent mapping engine in TruVizion offers a new level of insight into the cable plant and enables service providers to better understand the performance of their networks in specific geographic areas. Armed with this information, cable providers can pinpoint and resolve problems that will make the network run more efficiently and ensure a better surfing experience for their customers.
Deal with Stormy Weather and Systemic Problems
Many times, particularly after stormy weather, you may notice that several of the customers calling your tech support center live in the same area. Without a GIS system, it’s difficult to visualize customer locations to find and diagnose systemic network problems. You may even have to roll several trucks to troubleshoot and restore service on a case-by-case basis.
TruVizion’s mapping engine displays all the modems on a port in a single screen so that you can instantly see if other customers are affected. Like the other parts of the application, the maps in TruVizion are color-coded for easy reading. Customers that are online and operating within specification are noted with green pins. Yellow pins indicate alert status, red pins indicate warning status and gray pins indicate offline modems.
Sort by Offline Status or RF Statistics
Clicking on a pin will enlarge the pin to show customer account information and color-coded RF statistics. You can also filter the modems displayed on the map by offline status, or by one or more of the following RF statistics: upstream transmit power, downstream receive power, downstream SNR, upstream receive power and upstream SNR. Armed with this information, you’ll be better prepared to roll a truck to a specific location.
How can I learn more about TruVizion?
